With the lack of content in LOTRO, I have decided to move on and try some free to play MMO’s, In a new segment called, “The F2P experiment”. In this experiment I will rate F2P MMO’s in the following categories:

Classes/Races
Graphics
Game Play
Character Customization
Crafting
Questing
Store
Sound
Learning Curve
Overall Rating

Each post will include a video and my opinion about the game in each of the above categories. Each category will be rated on a 1-10 scale, 1 being poor, and 10 being excellent. I will pick one class that interests me the most, and play through to level *10.

(*The level i play to depends on the time it takes to get to 10, most videos will only go to level 5, if the leveling curve is fast, or i get feedback asking for more, then i will take it to 10, but never past 10)

Developer Introduction

For more on the Lore of 4story follow this link. more…

In the world of Iveria, there are multiple territories to be claimed by your Kingdom. More territories owned by your Kingdom will grants you with more places to journey and more treasures to find. At destined time of each and every day, the battle for the territory occupation will break out between two rival kingdoms “Craxion” and “DeFugel”. Fight for your kingdom! Slash the heads of your enemy! Claim what is rightfully yours!

My Opinion:

1 = Poor, 10 = Excellent

This video only shows levels 1-5, levels after 5 took much longer to obtain, if i would have taken this video to level 10, you would have had a 1 hour video to watch. You should get a good idea of what this game is all about, if you enjoyed this video, i recommend downloading the client and continuing your adventure in game :)

Classes/Races: 5

When it comes to races, this game is very lacking, you can choose from 3 races: Human, Fairy & Werebeast, each with a male and female option. When it comes to classes you have 6 to choose from: Warrior, Assassin, Archer, Wizard, Priest & Summoner. In the video we take a look at the summoner.

Game Play: 5

The game play is OK the quest text has obviously been translated from a language other than English, and the translation is very very poor. Overall I had fun playing the game but the terrible translation and annoying sounds kind of killed it for me. You have a talent system similar to WoW, every time you level you get a skill point, the summoner has three talent trees to spend points in and you can only go so far depending on your level

Graphics: 8

As you can see in the video, the graphics are WoW style cartoony graphics. Overall they are pretty good, some of the spell animations are lacking, overall animations are smooth, and I didn’t see any glitches.

Character Customization: 1

Character customization needs some work, they have a few preset variants to choose from, you cannot pick your hair style, hair color, and other features independently, you just choose a preset look and your done.

Crafting: 1

If your like me, I love the Crafting aspect of the games I play, in 4story you don’t pick a crafting skill (From what i see) Its more like the DDO & Guild Wars crafting system. For more on the crafting system follow these links to the official website. Scrolls, Potions, 34 Level Weapon & Shield, 38 Level Weapon & Shield, & Manufacture a Cloak.

Questing: 5

The questing in this game is pretty much like every other MMO out there… kill 10 rats, deliver this, find that ect ect, nothing spectacular, and like i said before, with the terrible translation its very hard to follow any type of story.

Store: 1

The in game store (Or Premium Shop as its called in game) is basically a pay to win system.. you can buy everything… potions, armor, weapons, cosmetics & more. I tried to see what the dollar to point conversion was, but it required i entered my credit card number before seeing any of the point packages, and i wasn’t up for that. They list their store items on their official website, you can view them by following this link.

Sound: 5

The audio in 4story has been translated poorly as well, as you seen in the video. Its almost unbearable. The background music was soo bad i had to turn it off.. sound effects were OK but the quest acceptance and completion sound was very annoying!

Learning Curve: 9

After a few minutes of playing the game, i had the controls pretty much down pat, and i was tearing it up like a veteran. The interface is very customizable, similar to LotRO you can unlock and move all elements of the UI and set it up the way you prefer.

Overall Score: 4

Overall this game is not too bad, if you like to explore, then this is a good game to just run around and check out the art. If you seek a well polished, immersive game, then i suggest you pass on this one. I uninstalled this game after i was finished capturing video, and do not plan on going back.

I didn’t go into extreme detail in the “My Opinion” portion of this article, i just wanted to be done with this game, I didn’t like it very much, and wanted to move on. if you would like to learn more about 4story Online, here is a link to the official community website: 4story Online By Zemi Interactive.
